In a major boost to India’s renewable energy sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has approved multiple renewable energy projects worth ₹27.23 billion. These projects include a green ammonia manufacturing facility in Kakinada, a solar hybrid and battery storage system in Nandyal and Kadapa, and a 400 MW solar energy project by Tata Power Renewable Energy. The move signifies Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to clean energy and sustainability.
A Green Ammonia Facility to Drive Sustainable Fuels
One of the key projects is a 1 million tonne per annum green ammonia manufacturing facility to be developed in Kakinada by AM Green Ammonia (India) Private Limited. This facility aims to accelerate the production of eco-friendly fuels and support India’s transition to green energy solutions.
Integrated Solar Hybrid and Battery Storage System
The cabinet also approved a solar hybrid and battery storage project in Nandyal and Kadapa districts. Spearheaded by Clean Renewable Energy Hybrid Three Way Limited, the system will integrate:
119 MW wind energy capacity
130 MW solar energy capacity
This cutting-edge project will create a unified renewable energy ecosystem, combining solar and wind energy with battery storage to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Tata Power’s Ambitious Solar Energy Project
In addition to the above, Tata Power Renewable Energy has been granted approval for a 400 MW solar energy project. Tata Power will oversee land acquisition and infrastructure development, ensuring the project contributes to Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy targets.
Financial Backing from Global Institutions
These transformative projects are set to receive financial support from leading institutions, including:
The World Bank
Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO)
Financial organizations in Germany
The international backing underscores the global confidence in India’s renewable energy landscape.
Andhra Pradesh’s Commitment to a Clean Energy Future
The ₹27.23 billion investment in these projects reflects Andhra Pradesh’s dedication to achieving sustainability and promoting green energy. By fostering the development of green ammonia, solar energy, and hybrid systems, the state is setting a benchmark for clean energy initiatives in India.
Conclusion
With approvals for innovative projects across the renewable energy spectrum, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a leader in India’s green energy revolution. These initiatives not only strengthen the state’s renewable energy capacity but also contribute to the global fight against climate change.
