BluPine Energy, a leading renewable energy services company backed by global infrastructure investor Actis, has announced the successful commissioning of a 120 MW solar power project in Gujarat. The project includes two solar plants: a 70 MW facility in Radhanpur and a 50 MW plant in Nenava, both situated in the northern region of the state.

A Major Step Towards India’s Renewable Energy Future

The completion of this solar project marks a significant milestone in BluPine Energy’s efforts to support India’s renewable energy ambitions. The plants, completed under the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) 16 tender, are expected to produce approximately 3.23 lakh MWh of solar energy annually, offsetting around 2.96 lakh tons of CO2 emissions and supplying power to roughly 2.7 lakh households. This achievement is another step towards helping India reach its goal of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, expressed gratitude for the project’s success, saying, “With the commissioning of its first greenfield project, BluPine reaffirms its commitment to the state of Gujarat and to helping meet the renewable requirements of India’s energy sector. It aligns seamlessly with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.”

Financial Backing and Community Impact

The project achieved financial closure through green financing from Standard Chartered Bank and was completed in just 18 months. Over 750 skilled and unskilled workers were involved, contributing more than 500,000 safe man-hours across the 500-acre site. The generated electricity will be supplied to GUVNL under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

In addition to the project’s environmental and economic benefits, BluPine Energy is committed to community development. The company has launched a Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Technician Training Program in Gujarat, successfully training 140 local youths. This initiative aims to close the skills gap in the renewable energy sector while improving the quality of life in nearby communities.

Expanding Renewable Capacity

With this new addition, BluPine Energy’s renewable energy capacity in Gujarat now totals 540 MW for solar and 290 MW for wind. The company’s overall renewable capacity has reached 2.6 GW, with several projects in various stages of operation, construction, and advanced development. BluPine Energy continues to position itself as a key player in India’s clean energy transition.
