The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) has expanded its collaboration with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) by signing a Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) agreement. This partnership aims to raise $100 million to fund transformative solar energy projects across ISA’s 120 member and signatory countries.
Raising $100 Million for Solar Energy Development
The MDTF initiative will see ISA take the lead in implementing solar projects tailored to the specific needs of its members. GEAPP will provide critical support through governance oversight, fundraising, and its expertise in energy transition planning, financing, and project implementation. Together, these organizations aim to accelerate global solar adoption and strengthen energy systems worldwide.
DUET and ENTICE 2.0: Driving India’s Energy Transition
Beyond the MDTF, GEAPP has unveiled two innovative programs to fast-track India’s energy transformation—DUET (Digitalization of Utilities for Energy Transition) and ENTICE 2.0 (Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge).
DUET: Smarter Grids for a Sustainable Future
DUET focuses on revolutionizing India’s power grid through advanced digitalization. By mapping grid assets, integrating live smart sensors, and enabling real-time data analysis, DUET enhances energy management efficiency. It also aims to reduce transmission losses and facilitate the seamless integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE).
ENTICE 2.0: Catalyzing Clean Energy Innovation
Building on the success of ENTICE 1.0, ENTICE 2.0 is set to launch in January 2025. This platform identifies and nurtures innovative clean energy solutions, offering startups access to funding, market linkages, and mentorship. ENTICE 2.0 will address financing gaps, build institutional capacity, and scale impactful innovations to meet India’s growing energy needs.
Strategic Vision and Global Impact
Woochong Um, CEO of GEAPP, emphasized the significance of the MDTF partnership, stating, “Collaboration is key to unlocking the potential of renewable energy and creating a more resilient global energy system.”
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President – India at GEAPP, outlined the organization’s three-year strategy, focusing on ENTICE 2.0 and broader Energy Transition Planning (ETP) efforts in India. These initiatives align with GEAPP’s mission to empower communities and promote sustainable economic growth.
The ISA’s Commitment to Solar Power
Founded at COP21 in Paris, the ISA is a global initiative with the vision to unlock $1 trillion in solar investments by 2030. With a focus on reducing technology costs and promoting solar energy across diverse sectors such as agriculture, health, transport, and power generation, ISA is a cornerstone of the global push toward a carbon-neutral future.
The strengthened partnership between GEAPP and ISA marks a critical step in advancing global solar adoption. By leveraging innovative programs like DUET and ENTICE 2.0, this collaboration promises scalable solutions that foster clean energy transitions and global sustainability.
