Qualitas Energy Divests One of Europe’s Largest Solar PV Plants

In a landmark transaction, Qualitas Energy has announced the sale of its Mula solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, located in Murcia, Spain, to China Three Gorges Spain, a subsidiary of CTG Europe and part of the renowned China Three Gorges Corporation. With an impressive installed capacity of 494 MWp, the Mula solar plant stands as one of the largest photovoltaic projects in Europe.

A Strategic Sale to Drive Renewable Energy Investments

This significant transaction, carried out in collaboration with Northleaf Capital Partners—a global investment firm and co-owner of the solar plant—marks the sale of 100% ownership. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, following standard regulatory procedures.

Manuel Espinosa, Partner at Qualitas Energy, expressed his enthusiasm about the divestment:

"We are pleased to transfer this asset to such an experienced partner as China Three Gorges Spain. This will allow us to continue our investment strategy in renewable energy, both in Spain and internationally, contributing to a decarbonized economy. This divestment reinforces our commitment to creating solid and sustainable value for our investors."

Financial Milestones Supporting Renewable Growth

In 2023, Qualitas Energy successfully completed a refinancing operation for the Mula solar plant with the participation of multiple specialized financial institutions. Additionally, a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was secured, ensuring the sale of the plant's renewable energy to an international investment-grade energy company.

Leading the Renewable Energy Transition

Qualitas Energy’s sale of the Mula solar plant aligns with its broader mission of advancing renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. The company remains a prominent player in fund management for renewable energy, energy transition projects, and infrastructure investments, furthering its commitment to a greener future.

China Three Gorges Spain, part of the global energy powerhouse China Three Gorges Corporation, adds the Mula solar plant to its extensive renewable energy portfolio, reinforcing its foothold in the European clean energy market.
