Renewable energy giant ReNew has announced plans to invest INR 31,500 crore in Gujarat’s solar power generation and green manufacturing sectors. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government during the REInvest event in Gandhinagar, marking a significant step in advancing the state's renewable energy infrastructure.
Major Investments in Solar and Wind Power
ReNew is set to invest INR 17,500 crore into developing 3,000 MW of solar power and 630 MW of wind energy projects. These projects aim to provide a substantial boost to Gujarat’s clean energy supply, further aligning with India’s renewable energy goals. By leveraging Gujarat’s natural resources, ReNew aims to lead the state’s transition towards a sustainable energy future.
Building Manufacturing Infrastructure
In addition to its solar and wind projects, ReNew will allocate INR 12,000 crore to establish manufacturing facilities in Gujarat. These facilities will include a 6,000 MW production capacity for solar ingots and wafers, along with an 8,500 MW capacity for solar cells and a 2,400 MW capacity for solar modules. This investment will not only enhance Gujarat's role in solar energy production but also support India’s ambition to become a global leader in renewable energy manufacturing.
Focus on Green Finance and Environmental Sustainability
ReNew is also investing INR 2,000 crore into a green finance project aimed at mangrove conservation and reforestation efforts. This initiative highlights the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity protection, ensuring that their renewable energy ventures contribute to the preservation of natural ecosystems.
A Bold Step Toward a Greener Gujarat
These massive investments from ReNew will significantly impact Gujarat's energy landscape, bringing thousands of jobs, fostering green technology, and supporting India's long-term climate goals. The MoU underscores ReNew’s commitment to not only generating clean energy but also building a sustainable future through responsible manufacturing and environmental protection.
