Suzlon Energy Limited and JSP Green Wind 1, a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables, have further strengthened their partnership by announcing a new 302.4 MW wind power project in Karnataka's Koppal region. This expansion follows Suzlon's 400 MW captive wind power project secured with Jindal Renewables last month, bringing their total partnership capacity to an impressive 702.4 MW.
This milestone marks Suzlon's largest-ever Commercial and Industrial (C&I) order from a single customer, highlighting the rising demand for renewable energy solutions in India's industrial sector.
Driving India's Green Energy Transition
The 302.4 MW project will feature 96 advanced S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) mounted on Hybrid Lattice Towers, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW. The energy generated will cater to the captive consumption needs of Jindal's steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, fostering green steel production and reducing the environmental impact of industrial operations.
This collaboration underscores Suzlon's pivotal role in India’s energy transition journey. With C&I customers now constituting 56% of Suzlon's total order book—standing at a record-breaking 5.4 GW—the company has cemented its position as a leader in providing renewable solutions to the industrial sector.
A Step Towards Sustainability
By aligning with India’s vision of carbon neutrality, Suzlon and Jindal Renewables are setting a benchmark for sustainable industrial practices. The project not only boosts India's wind energy capacity but also contributes significantly to reducing the carbon footprint of steel manufacturing—a key player in industrial emissions.
